The number of mukhis (eyes) on a rudraksha bead determines its spiritual significance. The one-mukhi is considered to be the most powerful and auspicious, while the 21-mukhi is considered to be less so. However, there are many variations in appearance between these two types of beads; for example, some 1 Mukhis may have more than one eye or none at all!

If you are wearing a 1 Mukhi Rudraksh then you can use it anywhere on your body except for the forehead; if it has 21 mukhis then it should be worn around your neck in an amulet or locket made specifically for this purpose; otherwise simply threading them onto a string will suffice just fine.
